One of the Church’s traditional Lent devotions is the Stations of the Cross. This year, due to the Covid-19 restrictions, whilst we are allowed to pray the Stations of the Cross in church, we can’t process from station to station as we would normally do and, because of the current ban on singing in church, neither can we sing the traditional Stabat Mater (Sorrowful Mother) hymn as we process round the stations.
Notwithstanding the current situation, if sufficient interest is shown in praying the Stations in church, we will do so, but we also have to bear in mind that, given the current situation, some people may be reluctant to come to church for the Stations of the Cross.
For those who would rather not come to church to pray the Stations at the present time, or for use as a private devotion until a decision is made about praying the Stations of the Cross in church, you may find the following links useful:
- The Society have produced a number of resources to use during Lent.
- For those who simply wish to use the Stations of the Cross, there are two versions available:
- The Society in the Diocese of Leeds have produced a study course, which is also being offered as a Lent resource – Communion and Catholicity.
